Jemmillion: Thank you for the opportunity to interview you. Previously, you told me that when you first got involved in the fighting game scene, instead of going to grad school, you decided to start writing about video games on various gaming websites. What inspired you to become involved in the fighting game community?

Isaac Torres (Delriach): Fighting games have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I would go on school trips to places like Enchanted Castle and Haunted Trails just to play Tekken. Jemmillion: How long have you been playing fighting games? 

REO: I’ve been playing fighting games since I was six-years-old. I was given an N64 along with Super Mario 64, Mortal Kombat Trilogy, and Duke Nukem by a relative. Jemmillion: The first tournament I ever attended was Summer Jam 7 in 2013. I had the great opportunity of getting to speak with you. At the time, I had known you as the guy who played Aquaman in Injustice: Gods Among Us. After the tournament was over, I learned that you have been active in the Mortal Kombat scene for a long time. How long have you been playing fighting games?

Tom Brady: I have been playing fighting games since the very beginning, and started with Street Fighter 2 in the early 1990’s. I have been competing for over 20 years.

Jemmillion: How long have you been playing fighting games?

Shock: The first fighting game I ever played, technically, was Karate Champ Vs Edition, which came out way back in 1984, but I will say I probably didn’t play it until 1985 or ’86. Some people in the community don’t think I’m OG. OG that. Karate Champ. TWO joysticks, per player. So in the most technical sense, pretty close to 30 years. I grew up around arcades or places with arcade games, like malls, casinos, diners, boardwalks, pizzerias, video stores, etc. I was always exposed to the newest games, therefore the advent of games like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat. Although, I don’t remember seeing the original Street Fighter until many years later.
